Do I Have Financial Protection?

Zero Distance Tours provide holidays and flights as part of China Direct Travel. We are fully protected by ATOL bonding by the Civil Aviation Authority. Our ATOL number is ATOL 5120. When you pay, you are supplied with an ATOL Certificate. Please ask for it and check to ensure that everything you booked (flights, hotels and other services) is listed on it. How do I Book?

We require the names and passport details of those travelling plus a deposit of £300 per person. The deposit applies to adults and children. If you are within 10 weeks of travel, then a full balance payment will be payable. You can pay by cheque, debit, and credit card. Please note, credit cards and American Express are subject to a 2% charge. There is no charge for debit card payments.

What is My Luggage Allowance?

The standard luggage allowance for checked-in baggage is 20kg per person. There are some variations with international carriers that allow more than this, for example, British Airways is one bag of 23kg, and Emirates is 30kg per person. Hand luggage is usually 5kg.

How Long Must I Have Left on my Passport?

For all our destinations, you must have a minimum of six months left on your passport after your planned return travel date.

Will I Need a Visa?

Most of our destinations require a visa for entry. Sometimes, these need to be applied for and obtained before travel (China or Mongolia). In other cases, (Cambodia or Laos), visas are “visa on arrival” and can be issued on arrival at the airport within the country after filling a form and paying a small fee. In all cases, we will advise you of visa requirements and instructions. If you need further visa information, it is always available on the relevant country's embassy website. For non-British citizens, it is essential that you check your visa requirements as these may be different to those listed on our site.


When Will I Receive My Tickets?

Tickets are usually issued 10 days before departure. They are sent out by post or email to the 'lead passenger' on the booking. Most flights are either ticketed "Electronically" or "Ticketless". In both these cases, the procedure is very simple, so there are no paper tickets to be lost in the post and you can always travel.

Do I Need Travel Insurance?

All clients travelling on any of our holidays must be covered by holiday insurance against loss of money and luggage, medical expenses, and cancellation charges in the event of illness or prior to departure, etc. Travel insurance is an essential part of a holiday. Clients should ensure that the cover is sufficient for their needs.

Do I Need any Vaccinations?

It is your responsibility to check any health and vaccination requirements applicable to your holiday. We can only provide general information about this. Health and hygiene facilities and disease risks vary from country to country. You should take health advice about your own needs as early as possible and in good time before your departure. Sources of information include www.fco.gov.uk, www.travelhealthpro.org.uk, www.hpa.org.uk, your GP, or a specialist clinic.

I Have Difficulty Walking. Is This a Problem?

Our tours are accessible to most people with an average level of fitness and normal mobility. They do involve full days of sightseeing, often on foot, and include some climbing of stairs and getting on and off coaches and boats. Tours are not suitable for anyone with walking difficulties. If you are in this situation, please contact us. Our team will create a specific itinerary that can be tailored to your needs.
