This 13-day Japanese tour package ensures that you see a range of fantastic locations. It includes the ancient city of Kyoto as well as Tokyo, Mt Fuji and Hiroshima. Ideal if you’re looking for an introduction to Japan, this tour has frequent guaranteed departures for two or more people.

Wonders of Japan

Day 1: Tokyo

Depart London or regional airport for your flight to Tokyo

Day 2: Tokyo

You arrive in the beautiful city of Tokyo. Met on arrival by a representative, you then board an airport bus to your hotel. The rest of the day is free.

Day 3: Tokyo

This morning tour of Tokyo visits the Tokyo Tower and the Meiji Shrine. Pass the National Diet (Parliament) building en route to the Imperial Palace East Gardens. End the tour in the vibrant Ginza shopping district. Remainder of the day free for you to explore on your own.

Day 4: Tokyo to Nikko

Day four brings an excursion to the town of Nikko, and a visit to the Nikko Toshogu shrine. This is the mausoleum of the powerful shogun, Tokugawa Ieyasu. After a Japanese-style lunch, visit Lake Chuzenji and the Kegon Falls before you return to Tokyo. (L)

Day 5: Tokyo to Mt Fuji/Hakone

Your heavy luggage will be transferred direct to Kyoto, while you travel to the iconic Mt Fuji, ascending about half way up the mountain. Take a boat cruise on Lake Ashi and a cable car up Mt Komagatake to see the splendid views. After the tour transfer to a local "ryokan" or Japanese-style inn with "onset" or natural hot spring baths. Enjoy a Japanese-style dinner and stay in Japanese-style room with futons and tatami mats.  (L, D)

Day 6: Hakone to KYOTO

Transfer to Odawara station for bullet train to the historic city of Kyoto. Afternoon free for you to explore Kyoto.

Day 7: Kyoto/NARA

In the morning visit some of the outstanding sights in Kyoto such as Nijo Castle, the former residence of the Tokugawa shoguns, the Kinkakuji Temple (the Golden Pavilion) and the Kyoto Imperial Palace. After lunch travel to the ancient capital of Nara. Visit the Todaiji Temple containing the giant bronze Buddha, and the Deer Park and Kasuga Shrine. Return to Kyoto. (L)

Day 8: Kyoto

Free day to explore the city of Kyoto on your own.

Day 9: Kyoto to Hiroshima

Morning free in Kyoto before taking a bullet train to Hiroshima. Walk to your hotel near to the station. Your heavy luggage travels to Osaka so take an overnight bag for your stays in Hiroshima and Okayama.

Day 10: HIROSHIMA

Full day tour to Hiroshima and nearby Miyajima Island. First visit the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and museum, and the Atomic Bomb Dome. Then take the ferry to Miyajima Island to visit the beautiful Itsukushima Shrine and the iconic "floating" red torii gate.

Day 11: Hiroshima to Okayama

Another Take a train to Okayama and make your way to your hotel next to the station. Explore Okayama on your own. Suggested highlights are Okayama Castle and the Korakuen Gardens, one of the best in Japan.

Day 12: OKAYAMA TO OSAKA

Bullet train to the city of Osaka. Check into your hotel next to the station. Remainder of the day free you to explore Osaka. Perhaps visit Osaka Castle, or the vibrant Dotonbori area with its gaudy neon lights and numerous bars and restaurants.

Day 13: Exit

You are transferred to Kyoto Kansai Airport by airport bus/shuttle taxi. You then leave Japan and travel back to the UK.
