Depart London or regional airport for your flight to Tokyo
You land in Tokyo and meet with one of our representatives. Guided to the correct bus, you travel to your hotel and receive the rest of the day free.
This morning tour of Tokyo includes the Tokyo Tower Observatory, Imperial Palace East Garden, and the Meiji Shrine. It then finishes in the vibrant Ginza shopping district. You can then relax in the free afternoon or explore further on your own.
A free day in the glorious city of Tokyo!
Travel to the iconic Mt Fuji by coach, ascending about half way up the mountain. Your heavy luggage will be transported to Takayama, so take an overnight bag for your stay in Hakone. After a Japanese-style lunch, proceed to the Hakone National Park where you will take a boat cruise on Lake Ashi, and ride in a cable car to see the splendid views. At the end of the tour transfer to your hotel to njoy a traditional 'onsen' or hot spring bath. (L)
Transfer to Odawara railway station for a bullet train to Nagoya. Then transfer to bus for the journey to Takayama, in the 'Japanese Alps'. This ancient city is often known as 'Little Kyoto', with streets of old-style wooden houses. An afternoon walking tour includes the Kusakabe Folkcraft museum, formerly the residence of powerful merchants, and the Yatai Kaikan Hall where the colourful floats for the city's twice yearly festival are held. This trip also includes Kami-Sannomachi town, with its streets of well-preserved old houses, sake breweries, courtyards and shops.
Visit Takayama's colourful morning market before travelling alongside Lake Miboro and the Shokawa River to the World Heritage site of Shirakawago, with its unique 'gassho-zukuri' farmhouses with steep grass-roofed houses designed to shed snow during the winters in this mountainous region. The journey continues in the afternoon to Kanawaza. Your heavy luggage will be transported to Kyoto to await your arrival there. (L)

You are transferred to Kyoto Kansai Airport by airport bus. You then travel back to the UK.
