Experience the wide range of cuisine that India has to offer with our Golden Triangle tour. You’ll see the sights and the sounds as you travel across the country. It’s the perfect Indian holiday. Our team provide activities to see and do every day, so you’ll never get bored! From the megalopolis of Delhi to the pristine elegance of the Taj Mahal, India is sure to have something for you.
You’ll depart London Heathrow or your regional airport on the first day. The flight is long and you may have to take multiple planes. It’s all worth it in the end!
Arrive in Delhi. You have the afternoon free to relax. On the late afternoon, you’ll visit a local Sikh temple.
Take an early morning train to Jaipur! In the afternoon, visit the key sights of the pink city of Jaipur, which is blessed with a wealth of wonders. Here you see the pink, delicately honeycombed sandstone windows of the Palace of the Winds, the Observatory, and the Maharaja's City Palace. The bustling bazaars of the old city are a great place to shop and explore, and you have the option to catch the latest Bollywood movie in the opulent Raj Mandir Cinema.
Visit the ancient palace of Amber Fort which is a superb example of Rajput architecture. It sits on a hilltop overlooking Maota Lake with stunning views. One of the most spectacular buildings contained in the fort is the Sheesh Mahal (Hall of Mirrors), with its walls completely covered with tiny mirrors. In the evening, attend the Folk and Puppetry programme at a nearby village and get to know the authentic performers.
Travel to our rural stay in Peharsar. This historic location is more than 1000 years old, and it is still almost entirely an agriculture driven economy. You can take a stroll in the village and its markets for a much closer local interaction, or take a tractor ride to the agricultural fields.
Head to Agra, stopping at the deserted city of Fatehpur Sikri. At sunset, admire the Taj Mahal’s elegant architecture and intricate carvings. You will be accompanied by a specialist photographer who will help you to take your photography to next level. He will be taking you around some of his secret spots, helping you get the best from your camera.
After an optional sunrise visit to the Taj Mahal, we then visit the Agra Fort. After this we’ll drive to Delhi, arriving by late afternoon. In the evening, you are invited to join a walk leader to explore Old Delhi’s heritage with them on a two-hour walk.
Visit the sights of Old and New Delhi, taking in Jama Masjid in Old Delhi, the India Gate, and the former viceregal residence. These include fine examples of British Imperial architecture.
On your final day, you’ll transfer to an airport for a flight back to the UK, arriving later the same day. (B)
