The Classic china Tour

Day 1: UK to beijing

You’ll depart London Heathrow or your regional airport on the first day. 

Day 2: beijing

Arrive in Beijing. Your local guide will be there to meet you and take you to your hotel. Rest of the day free.

Day 3: Beijing

Today join a seat-in-coach day tour to see Tiananmen Square followed by the Forbidden City - the huge palace complex that was the home of China's emperors for five centuries. After lunch visit the Temple of Heaven and the beautiful Summer Palace (B, L)

Day 4: beijing

After breakfast join a seat-in-coach tour to the famous Great Wall at Badaling and the tombs of the Ming emperors. (B, L)

Day 5: Beijing to Xi'an

In the morning catch the high-speed train to Xi'an (about 5- to 6-hour journey). You will be met by your local guide and then travel with them on the metro to your hotel. In the afternoon take a walking tour along Xi'an's impressive city wall, built in medieval times. Then enjoy leisure time in the narrow streets of the atmospheric Muslim Quarter. (B, L)

Day 6: xi'an

Full day seat-in-coach tour to the famous Terracotta Army, the life-size clay warriors created for the tomb of China's first emperor and today one of the wonders of the world. (B, L)

Day 7: xi'an to Shanghai

After breakfast, take the metro, accompanied by your guide, to the railway station for the high-speed train to Shanghai (about 7 hour journey). On arrival you will be greeted by a guide and taken to your hotel using the metro. (B)

Day 8: Shanghai

Full day seat-in-coach tour of Shanghai, starting in the old town with the Confucius Temple and surrounding street, and then the Yu Garden and teahouse. Then visit the famous Bund, or waterfront, with its colonial-style architecture and view across the Huangpu River to the skyscrapers of the Pudong district. After visiting the Shanghai Museum, take a stroll through the former French Concession which retains some of the atmosphere of 1920s Shanghai. (B, L)

Day 9: shanghai to UK

On your final day, your guide will accompany you by metro and by the Maglev train (the world's fastest train) to Shanghai Pudong airport for a flight back to the UK, arriving later the same day. (B)
